Jesus said to the Samaritan woman in John chapter 4 that there will come a time that the true worshippers of Him will worship Him "in Spirit and truth". And with that He said, now is that time.
Everything with God begins with true worship. True worship ushers us into the presence of God. When God called Israel out of Egypt to be prepared for their freedom and life in their promise land, the first thing He did was to teach them how to be true worshippers of Him. He gave them the commandments, laws, principles and practices and taught them on how to lead a life of true worship.
Every believer in their life and ministry should be a true worshiper, worshipping the Lord in Spirit and truth. Integrity, honesty and loyalty to God are all vital ingredients of our personal lives and for the conduct of our ministry.
One should be able to handle the Word of God in its entirety and apply that to their daily lives. We must do and live what the Word of God teaches us. We must make the Holy Spirit truly our counsellor in every aspect of our lives and make the Word of God the lamp unto our feet.
Principles for the conduct of our lives and ministry as true worshipers of Jesus: -
a) The Word of God should be the foundation to all our workings.
b) We should carry a servant heart in all our doings.
c) We should hold total integrity with each other and with God in everything we do.
d) Our lives and ministry should carry a plan and purpose from God – we should have a true godly vision.
e) We should live and work with the empowerment of the Holy Spirit over our lives.
f) Every day of our lives must be a consecrated altar for the Lord, separated and set apart for His purposes and plans.
As written in the book of Romans, chapter 12, “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” (NIV)
The primary reason for us to live should be to be a true worshipper of Him in Spirit and Truth.
